Update on the Missions Spaghetti Dinner

Lifepointaz   -

“At our church’s Women’s Retreat last year, we heard from women who had come up from the San Carlos Reservation whose lives had been dramatically impacted. They spoke about how thankful they were to come, but also told of others who were unable to come due to a lack of funds. We’ve seen God move at retreat time and time again and our goal is that there isn’t a single woman from the San Carlos Reservation who is unable to come this year due to funding!”

We prayed, and God told us to provide enough scholarships for 50 ladies! That is a lot of fundraising and a lot of ladies. We set out by creating a team that shared the same vision, to see more San Carlos Apache women come to retreat in 2022, and we ended up with 6 LifePoint ladies that committed to helping bring this to fruition.

It has been a long road. We have done everything from sharing our hearts with friends to inundating friends on social media, to hosting Bunco nights, but we knew we needed to do something bigger! One of the ladies suggested a Spaghetti Fundraiser and we ran with the idea. This would be our chance to share about the needs on the San Carlos Reservation as well as secure sponsorships needed to bring them to retreat.
My head is still spinning from the busyness that comes with fundraising sometimes. When we came into the new year, we had secured 13 sponsorships. The Spaghetti Dinner was such a success! We sold over 100 plates but served 90 plates. We received dozens of donations, and the raffle prizes (a total of 8 options) were a huge hit! In all, we brought in enough money to sponsor 15 more ladies to retreat.

After Bunco, some general donations, and the Spaghetti Dinner, we only need 10 more spots to accomplish our goal of 50 ladies sponsored for the retreat! Praise God! If you would like to take part in blessing to the San Carlos ladies this year, please click the following link to donate, any amount is helpful and goes toward their retreat. I want to say an incredibly special thank you to my team and all the volunteers that helped make the Spaghetti Dinner possible. This was not just my vision, so thank you to Renee Pocklington, Brandi Atwell, Heather Wegert, Jamie Ferrara, and Monika White. Also, thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that helped make this event possible.
