EASTER

Lifepointaz   -

Every year as a country, we still take time to recognize the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Say what you will about our country commercializing it and trying to make it about a bunny and some eggs, the fact remains that the entire country must take notice that we have this day set aside as a national holiday because of Jesus. That is amazing! In a world where we have tried so hard to take Jesus out of everything, we celebrate His birth at Christmas and His death and resurrection around Easter.

Our country’s attempt to eliminate Christ from everything is not the first time Christianity has seen this and until Christ returns, it certainly won’t be the last. It is, however, our turn, to do as those who have come before us. To stand up for the truth of the gospel, to love our enemies, and to be in the world, but not of it. This Easter I would challenge your family to take some time on Friday, and remember the crucifixion, read the account from Matthew with the whole family and discuss the implications. If you are going to spend a couple of hours decorating eggs and preparing easter baskets and then searching for eggs…I exhort you to set an equal amount of time remembering the true reason for this weekend being elevated above others.

As Christians, we can become colonized by our culture and flow with what the culture says is good, moral, and acceptable, or we can do something so much greater…worship the one, true, living God.

Blessings to you and your family this weekend, I hope to see you at our Good Friday service at 7:00pm and one of our Sunday Services at 6:30am, 9:45, 11:30.

Peace,

Nathan Bentley
