Disaster Relief Trip Testimony
The Samaritan’s Purse Mission trip to Port Charlotte, Florida was very humbling to me. I felt blessed to be able to help the families, but at the same time, it was sad to see everything they had lost. Each family we served had a different story.
At one home, we met José, the friendly neighborhood alligator.
At our last home, on our last day serving, I had the most powerful experience. Our lead was not sure that we would be able to get to this homeowner, but he did say that if there was time, we would have a small job to do.
God knew we had to be there that day, so he made sure there was time in our day.
Samaritan’s Purse had already been at this homeowner’s house on October 24th to do other work; but, today, they needed some work done in their bathroom.
In speaking with our team leader, we found out that the homeowner, Eileen, got saved during the first visit from Samaritan’s Purse, so she was a new believer in Christ.
While we were there, Eileen got a phone call. We found out that her mom passed away, and that earlier that day, her sister-in-law’s memorial service had taken place.
We knew at that time God was working. He wanted us there so we could pray and comfort this family during that time.
You never know when God will show up, and he showed up that day.
If you have never been on a mission trip, I encourage you to sign up and go on one. Show Jesus in all you do.
