Compassion Queen Creek Breakfast

Last Saturday was the annual Compassion Queen Creek event. This is put on by the local Christian churches, organizations and businesses which is equal to over 300 volunteers. It is free dental, vision and health care for anyone in need along with a social service fair which over 300 guests participated in. On top of all of this is free hair-cuts, massages, manicures, food & toiletry bags, clothing and much more. Hundreds of volunteers prepare months in advance, set up on Friday night at Combs Middle School and show up bright and early Saturday morning to serve their neighbors. This year, LifePoint provided breakfast for the guests and volunteers. We went through about six large urns of coffee, boxes of fruit, bagels, yogurt, muffins and granola bars, and a plethora of juice boxes. 12 LifePoint volunteers welcomed, served and prayed with both guests and other volunteers. The event itself, as always, was a great success and we received plenty of accolades for our breakfast service.

One single mother came for a tooth extraction. She had an estimate from a dentist office which she could not afford, hence, she came to CQC. She had her three-year-old daughter with her and was quite nervous about leaving her alone with the provided day care at the event. After her tooth extraction, she received a manicure and checked opportunities for child care inside the Social Service fair. After being prayed over and educated on the local churches in her neighborhood, she returned to pick up her daughter to find she had a wonderful time playing with the other kids and the volunteers. This single mother left with a smile on her face and joy in her heart which was greater than any pain that came from the dental visit.

If you would like to serve at next year’s Compassion Queen Creek we would love for you to do just that. It is every March and sign-ups are available around the end of January. There are 17 areas with over 300 various opportunities to serve in. Our breakfast set up is just one of those many ways to serve. We’ll see you next year as we serve side by side in 2020!
