High School Conference 2019

If you ever want to be rejuvenated and reignite your faith, take a trip to La Mirada, California with 14 High School students for a week to experience and worship Jesus!

Every year, CIY hosts the MOVE (www.ciy.com/move) conference for high school students at university campuses across the USA (they’ve even branched out to host one in Northern Ireland in August) where thousands of students get to experience God in a mighty way.

Last week, me and Kristi Shamburg drove to La Mirada with 14 teens for the conference at Biola University; if you see a bunch of teens wearing Biola merch you know they went with us! We had one person accept Christ for the first time, two students recommit their lives to Christ, and five students commit to serving in vocational ministry. The schedule is hectic and the days are long but so fulfilling. We have morning and evening sessions which start with a worship experience that parallels most concerts! Our worship leaders this year were Louie and Brianne Bookout (http://www.thebookoutsmusic.com) who are amazing at connecting the students with God in song. After worship, there are speakers who, this year, presented the story of Elijah from 1 Kings and related it to the lives of students. This is an amazing time for anyone—even the leaders walk away having encountered God.

This year we had a very generous partner help cover a significant part of the cost of the trip and I’d like to challenge the rest of the congregation in coming alongside our High School youth by helping cover part of the $435 cost of the trip. If 100 people set aside $20 a month from now until next year’s conference in July, we will be able to take at least 25 students! This is a big deal and many youth don’t go because of the cost. If you want to help, you can set up a recurring gift at this link  https://bit.ly/2LPzqXX or by texting “givelifepoint” to 77977 and giving to the YLCIY2020 fund.

Thank you so much!!!
