Ministry & Benevolence
This has been a trying week for the world. Fear, violence, and deceit have filled our television screens, social media, and thoughts. Through it all we hear reports of tremendous forgiveness, choices to not hate those who could do such a thing and ideas that we should be doing more to protect ourselves from such terror. As I sat in prayer this week, I kept hearing God’s reassuring voice ask me, “Do you still trust Me? Will you stay the course? Do I have your heart?”
That last question is the one that really haunts me.
God has been asking His creation since the beginning, do I have your heart? He asked Adam, Cain, Abraham, Moses, David, Gideon, Peter and countless others this poignant question. The prophet Jeremiah gives us the reason why God is so concerned with the condition of our hearts. Jeremiah 17:9 says “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”
We know the answer to that question is unequivocally Jesus! He can change the hearts of those who turn to Him and repent. So if recent studies show that nearly 247 million U.S. citizens identify as Christians, (sharefaith, 2015), What is going on and, does He really have your heart????
See you this Sunday at LifePoint Church.
