The Benefits of a Large Mission Team

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

When God places a call upon your heart, it is often difficult to determine how one person could be effective alone in their calling or gifting. But as we know, God has a plan and His plan is often much bigger than we could ever imagine. When His plan involves pulling the body of Christ together to do His great work, God’s plan becomes unstoppable. If you are given the opportunity to live out your calling and share that with others, please do it, because you will see an amazing shift occur – The Body of Christ coming together as one. This is what has happened with the LifePoint Medical Mission Team that is traveling to Haiti. As God worked within me and through me, with key leadership support, I was able to see my initial team of 4 people multiple to a full team of 12. The establishment of a larger team was essential to being able to be the hands, feet, and mouthpiece of Christ in a larger way. Each of the 12 individuals on the team has a unique gift that they can bring to the overall Body of Christ that will be moving not only through each of them, but within each and every person that they encounter in Haiti. This is true discipleship.

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves, A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). A larger team not only allows for more of God’s gifting’s to be spread throughout the world, but it allows for endurance to “finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to us – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24). We were never meant to do these things alone. God called us to do this as each one of us is a part of the larger body and as He equips us for works of service, the body of Christ will be built up. This is our job and with a larger mission team working together as a diverse yet cohesive group, the race can be finished and we can do God’s great work.
