San Carlos Mission
On the 2nd weekend of January, for the past 4 years, we have had a Men’s Trip to San Carlos to assist Arizona Reservation Ministries with building homes and churches. This January we head out on the 8th, directly following the Men’s Breakfast. Not only do we get the opportunity to work on a church, but we also get to go on a Prayer Journey across the reservation. A prayer journey is where we get to get a glimpse of at living conditions on the reservation. Periodically, we stop and pray over the area that we are passing through during the journey. It doesn’t matter how many times that I have gone up there, it is a huge gut check. It saddens me to think that in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, we see such suffering right in our backyard. A traditional home on the Reservation is the size of most of our living rooms, and that small home will house upwards of 20 to 30 people. Not only do they deal with these inadequate living conditions but there is a lack of work available on the Reservation. The land that they have can be taken at any given moment by the government, which leads to employers not wanting to invest in businesses on the Reservation.
I often get the question, “why does Life Point help? Don’t they get money every month?” They do get some money, approximately 250.00 each month from the Government. Even though they have a local casino, they do not receive any funds from it. They get very little traffic to the casino, and the tribal council is still making payments to the bank. God also commands us to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves, to care for the widows and children. We do this by supporting Arizona Reservation Ministries, both financially and physically, by hosting missions to the Reservation.
We are looking forward to having a good group of guys head up this year. Don’t worry ladies, there are 2 other trips this year that are All-Family trips. Gentlemen, don’t forget to register on the app or online (with the link below) and pack a lunch.

I’ll see you Saturday, Jan. 8th!
