For God so Loved the World

Lifepointaz   -

This Sunday we jump into the final enemy of peace in our lives by looking at the World. We have already studied the role and activity of the devil in spreading and speaking lies, and we have looked at our own disordered desires and how they affect each of us individually, and how they make us vulnerable to the deceptive ideas sown to us by the devil.

The final enemy, the world, is what happens when the first to go unchecked in our lives and begin to shape the culture we live in. Sin and wickedness begin to be normalized in society and before you know it, the things which once seemed unthinkable become everyday norms.

Think about movies and television, cursing, sexualization, grotesque violence, all of these were considered to not be appropriate just 60 years ago. Now, you can find all of these in kids’ shows and movies…let alone what we allow ourselves to view as adults.

It’s one thing to be told a lie, it’s quite another to take on that lie and begin to live it. Through the power of general and special revelation given to us by God, we can see through the lies of the enemy and overcome them when we speak truth that reinforces our beliefs and strengthens our resolve.

Take some time this weekend and read Jesus’ High Priestly prayer in John 17. Pay attention to what He says about the world and His intentions for His children in it.

See you Sunday.

Peace,

Nathan Bentley
