YouthLife workday at Youth Haven Recap
YouthLife, our LifePoint youth department, had a Workday on the first Saturday of October. They teamed up with LifePoint Church of Tucson for landscaping and general repairs at Youth Haven located off highway 87 near Interstate 10. Youth Haven’s mission is to provide life-changing, Christ-centered experiences for disadvantaged children through camps and retreats. All of which is provided free of charge. As you can imagine, a ministry like this that relies exclusively on donations will struggle to keep on several acres of landscaping.
Through the past year with all the rain and lack of attention to trees and bushes, because young people’s spiritual lives are much more important to a small staff than manicured shrubbery, the Prayer Garden needed attention. Our students and their leaders trimmed trees and bushes, cleaned out rock beds, revealed walking paths, and even worked on prepping the Rock-Climbing Wall for a new paint job. There was plenty of sweat and sore muscles by the end of the day but a noticeable difference as you looked toward the prayer garden.
Our desire is to continue with the relationship between YL and YH throughout the year and have a quarterly workday. There is plenty more landscaping to do. We have made a great friendship with the “other” LifePoint as well. God is good!
