A LifeCare Story
I was sitting in a quarterly sales meeting for work this week, and were we discussing in depth our “why” behind what we do and why we work so hard. Out of that discussion, I realized I have never shared my testimony behind LifeCare and why we do what we do and wanted to share.
Five years ago, after my first couple of surgeries and being laid up and unable to walk for months, I was in a dark place. My wife, being such an amazingly strong woman was stepping up and handling everything around the house while I was down and out. One Saturday, she was trying to mow the yard and couldn’t get the mower started. I stared out the window watching her tears of frustration as she struggled with the pull start. I felt worthless. I broke down and prayed for days for guidance on what I could do to avoid this feeling of being helpless. God’s reply was not what I expected. His reply was to give me His vision of starting this ministry to help others avoid feeling helpless and to let people know there are complete strangers out there that are willing to walk alongside them and share their burdens.
With that LifeCare was birthed. Five years now and we have completed hundreds of service projects with hundreds of volunteers stepping up to help their neighbors. There have been struggles, there have been times when we couldn’t help someone that needed it, and there have been times that I have not trusted God’s plan, and His vision, through this. But time and time again, God has come through. He has come through and blessed us with the volunteers to serve, He has blessed us with a trailer to be able to do more projects, He has blessed us with partners that can do things we as volunteers couldn’t do, and most importantly, He has blessed us with people that have had the strength to reach out and ask for help amongst their struggles.
This is my “why” behind LifeCare.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
