Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?
This Sunday I will be covering the final, “difficult”, saying of Jesus. In my opinion, I have saved the most difficult thing Christ ever spoke for last. Matthew, tells Jesus cried out with a loud voice, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Every other hard saying we have looked at over the summer pale in comparison to these words, they are so personal, intimate, and humanely impossible.
There is so much more I want to say, but I must save it for Sunday morning. I would ask you to do one thing before Sunday, read Psalm 22, as many times as you can before Sunday. The words He cries out are a direct quote from this Psalm, and when you realize the depth of this cry and what it means for you, there is a spiritual awakening and devotion to your Lord and Savior that becomes unmovable.
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Nathan Bentley
