Puerto Rico Mission Trip Recap
First of all, I want to say thank you for everyone who supported us with Prayer and financial support. We could not have made it without you. It was my greatest joy to be a part of what God is doing in Puerto Rico. My good friends started a Dream Center in Aricibo, Puerto Rico, 3 years ago. They have built an amazing place of ministry. They have turned an old building in the city into a Center to serve and bless their community. They give out groceries and meals weekly to many in the community along with ministering to their souls at the same time. They have a weekly service on Wednesday nights, and we were able to be a part of that as well.
We partnered with Healing Hands Ministries on this trip, and they helped serve the medical needs of the community at our block party and God gave them amazing connections. Justin met a nurse who connected them with a contact for the director of health and she also answered many questions. Healing Hands will be planning medical trips to Puerto Rico in the future.
We daily put together meals and did evangelism in the community. It was amazing to minister to people and to share the good news of Jesus with them. My favorite day was the street ministry and feeding the poor communities. We made meal’s of rice, chicken, and beans. We would pull up to the location and people would be waiting for us, or they would come running to us. As we fed them, we offered to pray for them and the Lord gave us many words that ministered to them. We went to a place called the shooting where homeless people shoot up drugs with needles. A guy came out named Raul and he was skin and bones and covered from head to toe in needle marks and sores. His face was covered in shame, and he looked barely alive. He wants to change and has gotten a few feet away from being in a rehab facility. I went to bed with a broken heart for him and the other men. I implore you to pray with me for him. We also put on a huge block party on Saturday for the poor communities and saw many saved and ministered too. We are planning on going again next year and would love to have you pray about joining us. I love the mission field as I always go to be a blessing to others and feel like I am the one who walks away with the greatest blessing.
Sincerely,
Douglas Sheppard
