What’s love got to do with it?

Sermon Title: What’s Love Got to Do with It?

I am praying specifically this week that you will experience the love of the Lord in your life. I realize that can sound somewhat trite and without any real direction, however, I want to put before you that experiencing the love of God is more than a feeling, it is knowing something much greater than our emotions or reason and seems to strike at the very foundations of what/who we are as beings in the universe.

When you know you are loved by God you can head into the world with extreme confidence, the lies of the devil seem to roll right off you, and you have a strength you cannot really articulate. Our weakness, even as born-again children of God, is our ability and capacity to love. We are daily fighting against a sin nature that is screaming that we do what is best only for ourselves, so even our love often comes from a place of selfishness and is self-serving. Fortunately, for us, Christ’s strength is made perfect in our weakness, and we can walk through life with a supernatural love.

I leave you with these verses to ponder on and pray about leading up to Sunday.

Romans 13:8-10

Love Fulfills the Law

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

YOU ARE INDEBTED TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
