Samaritan’s Purse Sharing Hope in Jesus’ Name Mission Conference Recap
We had the amazing opportunity to be able to attend this amazing event. We were joined by 1800 Samaritan’s Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association staff members and volunteers with the intent of Sharing the Gospel in Jesus Name. We had the opportunity to worship and fellowship with so many people that truly just have the hearts to serve and share the good news of the Gospel. While there, we learned how to share the hope of Christ in crisis, how to process grief with others, combat compassion fatigue and prevent burnout as missionaries, lead and disciple others, as well as how to be able to best serve our own communities when potential disasters strike. In addition, Andy even got the opportunity to learn more about practical skills such as framing walls and laying floors. We heard from key executives with the Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association – people who, despite their status, truly walk in the way of the Lord and demonstrate daily their love for Christ and the people that He needs us to reach. We left the conference inspired to continue to serve where God calls us to go and to share the Gospel in all circumstances because it is the power of God that transforms lives (not us) and He is doing a mighty work but he needs us to obediently be his hands, feet and mouthpiece here on earth. As Christ followers, we are here to help bridge the gap by showing up, loving people well and demonstrating that hope is attained through Jesus Christ. Showing up on a disaster response is a bridge to a spiritual conversation. God has commanded us and has given us the opportunity to share the love of Christ. Wherever the Gospel goes, hope follows.
